Submitting Stories

Tonight, without warning, I submitted a short story for publishing in a magazine. It was a humor story starring Fredrick Grandsople, my main trickster. My friend I instant message told me she was submitting to a magazine that was looking for short story humor bits under 5,000 words. I knew it was perfect the moment I heard the description.

The website said that I would hear back from them in about 12 weeks, which is three months. In the meantime, I'll be editing Frog Prince for manuscript publishing. Hehehehehehehehehehehe....

I'm tired. I have about an hour left before I go to bed (I'm on EST, obviously.) I'll probably spend it drawing and reading comics online. I'll save this chapter for tomorrow, when I will finish it without much difficulty.

Oh, and for the record, the A/C is still out.

I Accidentially Glued My New Pencil Case Shut

That, and I also validated my August Novel today. Guesss what!

*is too excited to type anything worth reading*

Click on any of the pictures to see a slightly bigger version of it.

Oh, and I managed to get my pencil case un-glued using an exacto blade. Hehe.

Some new gadgets....

Hey guys, I've been tinkering with the gadgets on the blog and added a poll and stuff. Go ahead and check it out, push some buttons, etc. As long as you don't make anything explode, feel free to look at everything new.

Oh, and I'm considering changing the background to a more Fall theme. Not yet, but when we get closer to September and such I might.

Hmmm, I don't have much to say today except that I FINISHED MY STINKIN' AUGUST NANOWRIMO NOVEL! Wooooohoooooo! It's a little over 51k right now and unedited and unvalidated, but I'll be sure to edit and validate soon.

Pardon the caps; I'm just getting overexcited.

I'll probably come back and add something later today.

EDIT:

Oh, and my friend made me a four foot long solid wood sword. I love this. It's awesome. :D

I'm tired.

Swords. I don't need to say anything else.

This morning I went outside at ten in the morning and didn't come back in until noon. The reason was because I went a little sword happy. Yep, you got it. I spent two hours doing sword moves, practicing strikes, balance, and form. And now I can't move my arm.

In case some of you can't tell, I'm a sword fanatic. I have a grand total of eight fake swords, made out of foam, wood, plastic, and one I'm making that has a metal rod in the middle of it. Hehe....

Today I took my longest, favourite sword outside in the back yard. It's a two handed Nerf brand sword that's black and yellow with a grey blade. It's my second heaviest but longest sword, and one of my favorites, as stated before.

The middle sword is the one I was using. I stuck a yard stick in there as well to give you an idea of length. Each sword has a unique story.

Starting at far left; the two matching swords are the ones most commonly used by me and my friends to sword fight. They are the most expendable and hurt the least.

To the left of my big blade is the one I'm making from duct tape, cardboard, a metal rod, and a superball. It would be finished by now except that I ran out of duct tape.

The sword with the completely blue hilt is my ninja sword. I got it the same day I did the two handed one. I don't use this one much, but it is good for fights because it can be used to jab while another sword blocks.

The next sword, if you look closely, has the hilt duct taped to it. This is because I broke it when I deflected a blow from the big sword that my friend was weilding. (Two handed sword rules all.) This was my second favorite sword and perfect for special moves because of the hilt. Until, of course, it broke.

The sword with the blue blade I got at Idlewild Amusement Park. There's a switch on it that makes it light up and make noises, but aside from that, it is useless for fights and would probably break in half with the first blow.

Finally, the blade on the far right is my favorite sword from now until the end of time. I have broken this sword a good five times. It was my first sword, the sword I got when I was eight and had a small interest in swords.

Below the swords are two sheaths that I made out of paper towel tubes and duct tape. The red and black one is for the sword with the broken hilt, and the grey sheath is for my first sword. I intend to make sheaths for the two handed sword and possibly ninja sword next, when I get more duct tape.

Well, now you know how I busy myself when outside. And let's not even get into the Wii swords....

EDIT: This was me, a couplea days ago.

I Finished August NaNoWriMo!

...sort of.

Hey, look! My tenth post!

Anyhow, I am at exactly 49,999 words right now. I hit it last night when I stayed up too late. It was, in a word, awesome. Okay, I'm talking like I finished it. In a word, yes. In another word, no.

The reason I stopped at 49,999 words is because I'm waiting for a friend who is also doing August NaNoWriMo. She's still in the 30k's, and I decided to help motivate her by waiting for her and then having us both cross the finish line at the same time.

Meanwhile, I am stuck with this weird feeling of being finished, yet not finished. Naturally, I started a new S & E chapter and began a blog post. What is it about me and writing?

Anyhoo, I'll probably draw at least one picture today, and if I do, I might post it up here. But, it all depends on how I waste away this writing-less day....

I bet the S & E chapter would be good for word wars to help my friend out.

EDIT:

Here's a picture of my main character from my August NaNoWriMo novel.

That's all for now!

Look, I Don't Know What to Put Here, Okay?

I felt guilty not posting for a bit, so I decided to post today. The only problem is, I have no idea what to post about. So, I'll cover the basics.

  • I am over 38k in my novel.
  • I like popcorn chicken.
  • I have Writer's Block.
  • I am making a sword out of duct tape, cardboard, a metal rod, and a superball.
  • Yesterday I wrote 1,000 words of total utter chaos. I was supposed to only take up 800 words for it. *wha wha waa...*
  • I am very good at procrastinating.
  • I want more popcorn chicken.

Hmmm, that's about it for now except that I rode my dad's bike today instead of mine and mmmm BOY was that an interesting experience. His bike seat is nice and comfy, though. Mine is killer.
I want 2,000 more words for today, so I'd better get cracking. :D
That is all.

EDIT: Oooh, hey! Here's a picture of the dog!
That was random.

Writing about Writing

I have constructed a timeline about my stories. I wrote a long one in a Word doc, but condensed it for the blog post. I have also added to it.

Story Timeline

October [exact date unknown], 2008. The world begins.
This was pretty much when I first started Role Playing on a school forum. I was interested in the fantasy realm, even though I had written Superhero stories since around 2005 or 2006. This was also when Harret was created.
November 20th, 2008. The First Kingdom is destroyed.
The Role Play Game was discovered by a teacher and deleted off of the forums. I made friends with one of the RPG-ers and we continued RPG-ing through email, but... that didn't last too long.
December 5th, 2008. The Magical Kingdom is born.
I was unable to continue contact with the other role player after a bit without getting into trouble. It seemed like everything was against this fantasy world; trying to keep it from being alive. I was determined to not let that happen. December 5th, '08, was the date I started the very first chapter that lead me to all this.
March 29th [?], 2009. Frg’s beginning.
Fredrick Roger Grandsople was created. Just in time for April Fool's Day....
[exact date unknown], 2009. Altradair is invented.
The Magical Kingdom and Altradair were the two main countries I wrote in. Frg, not surprisingly, was in both. It was only a matter of time before he merged the two countries, and soon the characters in both realms were interacting.
November 9th, 2009. Sandra and the Treasure of Night and Day.
This was the big one. The creation of Heroicits was purely accidental; I had been assigned to write a short story for English class. I wasn't willing to submit any of my valuable Magical Kingdom chapters for it, so I did some freewriting. And boom bam, Heroicits was invented. Frg showed up in there too.
December 17th, 2009. One thousand pages.
This was the time I hit the thousand page mark, thanks to the MK chapters. I was writing Heroicits and Magical Kingdom side by side now, with Frg in both, but the two kingdoms hadn't merged yet. By this time, the entire team (the Magical World Warriors) existed, but half of them didn't know the other half even existed.
January 19th, 2010. Then the worlds collided….
I turned my back on Frg for one second and he caused the Magical World to form. Heroicits, the Magical Kingdom, and Altradair were all smushed together rather violently in an incident called The Incident of the Twenty Frgs. In that incident, Frg cloned himself five times, and all the clones cloned themselves.... This was also the first incident where Rayon and Nessah met for the first time. Not pretty.
November 1st-13th, 2010. Magical World Warriors.
After several months of the crazy team getting used to each other, I threw all eight of them and myself into a novel for my first National Novel Writing Month. The novel was full of random scenes, rubber ducks, the UPS guy, food fights, sword fights, pranks, jokes, quotes, and running gags. It was perfect, beautiful, and if you touch it I will rip your head off.
December 30th, 2010. 3,000 pages.
This was when I hit 3,000 pages overall. This was also the third year I had been writing, meaning I punched out 1,000 pages a year. (I still am!) The Magical World Warriors remained a team, and were now living together in the Magical World as, well, a team. I now officially called myself a Writer, and considered publishing.
March 17th-28th, 2011. The Reign of Terrier.
This was my first but unofficial Script Frenzy. The Magical World Warriors starred in it, doing a hilarious and overdone 'The Tale of Two Cities' spoof. It was just like my NaNoWriMo novel; full of jokes, running gags, and random things, including the UPS man. It was 101 pages long when finished.
June 6th, 2011. Operation Albatross.
This is the day the Operation Albatross Incident started. I will probably go into detail about it in another post, but basically, it was horrible, bad, nasty, ugly, destructive, and almost utterly destroyed everything I'd worked since December '08 to create. There are still plenty of scars from it. I'll talk more about it later.
July 1st, 2011-Present. More Stories.
I did Camp NaNoWriMo in July, and now I'm doing it again in August. This will add 100k to my overall word count. My Magical World has turned into a whole Universe, and I have big plans for November 2011. Ohhh yes. Big plans. >:)

That's all for now. ^^

My Mile Long Opinion

This is why I haven't been posting as much as I did when I first started this blog.

That sword came out rather nicely for Paint.

And whoops, broke the thread. Oh well. I'll fix it later.

*goes back to procrastinating*

EDIT: Oh, that's right, I had something I wanted to rant about.

Our A/C broke on Friday. In August. This is so unfair. It could've broken any month of the year! I mean, there's a whole 12 months it could've broken in, so of course it picks the hottest month. August. Why!? Why!?

At first the heat didn't really get to me. I was calm in my jeans and tee shirt. Calm, cool, relaxed, ignoring the heat coming into the house rapidly. It was mind over matter. I simply wouldn't let the heat get to me, and therefore it wouldn't.

That night was blistering hot, but I managed to survive through it. Saturday I woke up and I was still fine. I discarded my jeans for jean shorts, however, and kept my hair up most of the day. I drifted towards the one fan that we have in the house, and willingly drank a cup of water every hour or so.

Sunday (today), the heat finally took it's toll.

Now, I've never been the type who enjoys warm weather. I like winter and fall; they're nice cold seasons, and I would prefer being cold to being hot. Well, it's not Winter or Fall right now, but August, and the A/C has broken.

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. My bed is up against a wall, so that means I hit the wall. Annnnyhow. I woke up feeling irritated already, and then took too long in the bathroom and got snapped at, and then had to throw together an outfit for church. During church I felt irritated, after church I felt irritated....

Eventually I went into the laundry room, closed the door, and snacked and typed on my laptop. It was nice and chilly down there, and after spending a couple of hours down there I no longer felt irritated.

Now I'm back upstairs and I feel irritated again. Stupid automatic updates.

EDIT 8-10-11:
I used Paint to draw the sword overtop of a screen shot. :D

Nothing In Particular

I have nothing in particular to post about today, except that I have decided to delay my sending out a query letter for later. Oh, and I reached 16k today in my August Camp NaNoWriMo novel, and I now have a cute little badge thing for August's session.

When I win I'll put the winner badge up here, kinda like the one in my profile pic that I have. (That one was from July.)

While I'm at it, here's another pic, this one of the cover I designed for this month's novel challenge:

That's all for now, and enjoy the pics!

Camp NaNoWriMo

Today is the first day of the August Camp NaNoWriMo session! I'm super excited. I got up at six in the morning this morning and have been writing until 11:30, doing a total of 5,000 words. My goal for today is to get to 10k. At this rate, I might even break my own record for NaNoWriMo finish dates.
For those of you who don't know, NaNoWriMo is where you write fifty thousand words in a month. Camp NaNoWriMo is writing fifty thousands words in a month, too, but in the summer. I did the July session of Camp NaNo already, and now I'm equally eager for August's session.
If any of you want to see my profile on the Camp NaNoWriMo site, click here: http://campnanowrimo.org/campers/lewolfwriter
My back aches, my shoulders ache, my arms ache, and my fingers ache from typing so much so quickly, but I will get to ten thousand words today. I'm using a lot of write or die (http://writeordie.com/), and listening to my grooveshark music. (I like to move it move it....)
Ah, lunch time. I'm gonna go see what's cookin'. Literally. ;)

EDIT: I was going to get my query letter together today, yes, but I got distracted from it. Bug me about it tomorrow. ;)

EDIT 2: I got to 10,000 words, yes! And the last 1,000 should all be burned because of two things.

1.) I was word warring and therefore typing like a maniac.
2.) I was tired.

So, most of the words cam outl ike dis. Here is an excerpt of me typing late at night while doing it like a maniac:

"...Don glanced out of he window, sighing. SOmeting was still bothering ihim, and it made him want to pull out his sword and stalk atound the cadtle armed, just in case something were to justmp out and try to ilil him. Don paised, then.
He glaned out the window again. He thoguht he'd seen domsrthing sowns theie, and knew that whateevr it was, it hadn't looked like it was from the Warriors of the Diamond Realm, or a firned at all.
"Tha tmight be wha'ts bortherign bme," Don thought, placing a hand on his sword hilt reassuirngly, "But... I don't knwo .It might be. Might," he turned and began to walk towards the door.
He heaerd a rouns, a rsoudjj hat was coming from outside. He paused, hand about to touch the metal door knob to turn the door and open it. Something was scaping along the wall otuside. Was something siding down the wall, or climbig up it?..."

Spell check hates me now.
