Burs

NaNoWriMo starts on Tuesday, so don't expect any sane posts then.

...

In fact, don't expect any sane posts on this blog at all.

Today I'm going to blog about an incident that happened last summer. Sometime near late summer, I got a summer job watering an elderly couple's plants because they were on vacation.

They lived about a mile from my house. Every day in the morning, I would ride my bike over there, water their plants (they had a miniature garden on their back porch), pick any ripe tomatoes I saw, and bike back home.

On Sundays, my parents would drive me over to water the plants. After I did that, we would go to our church services.

I was wearing an extraordinarily soft skirt that day. I loved how soft and warm it was. Well, I went and watered the neighbor's plants that day. While I was trying to get to the spicket, my skirt got caught on the bushes. I tugged it away and went about my job.

When the meeting started in church that day, I felt something irritating my legs. I looked down and picked a small green thing off of my skirt. It appeared to be a bur. Something dawned on me. I examined my skirt completely, and realized there were dozens of little green burs stuck to the soft fabric. It was like Velcro.

Thus, that is how I spent the entire church service picking burs off my skirt.

What I Do in My Free Time

On Saturdays, sometimes I actually get a break from stories, classes, and other such things. That is when I chat with my friend Silver.

Today we had a crazy chat (that was perfectly normal by our standards), and I decided to post some of it on here for your amusement.

Disclaimer: I'm not actually trying to kill her.
...Or am I?
You'll have to see for yourself.

A Scary Pumpkin

Halloween is just around the corner. So, last night, my youth group decided to carve pumpkins. I looked at the designs, and then decided I could do one even scarier than the ones in the book. Here's what my pumpkin looked like in the end:

Not scary? Well then look at this picture I did.

Now look at the pumpkin again.

You should be scared now.

Number One Fandom

In my Introduction to my Cast post, I made a note about Rayon being the most popular with the readers and fans. This is true. Way back when the Far Fetched and Beyond blog was a simple thread on a school forum, I had a poll asking which character from the series everyone liked the best.

Rayon was the winner. Most people chose two, but Rayon was always one of those two. This was probably because most of my readers were female. This picture is basically describing what Rayon was and is like:

One reader in particular rose above the others. This was Silvermist, a spunky Writer and artist who had decided that she was Rayon's Number One Fan. It wasn't long before Silvermist and another reader, Swiftflame, were arguing over who was The Number One Fan of Rayon. I was playing middle man the whole time, and recorded the whole conversation.
---

Swift: Oh no, I'm Rayon's top fan from infinity and back! Infinity and beyond! And more than she can ever say. ;>) You copied what I said about being his fan to the chat you were having with Silver? This is gonna be good. Let's see what she says to this. But I'm Rayon's biggest fan.

Silver: The problem is that I am The Rayon Fan with capital letters. No, make that, The Number One Rayon Fan, with capital letters as well. That makes me, officially, Rayon's Number One Fan. Impossibility stands between Swift and I, so that's that. As Rozar would say it: "I is the fan."

Swift: Now, the thing is, I'm Rayon's Number One Fan, to put it very simply, and there's no point in arguing about it, as I am Rayon's Number One Fan, in bold and italics and capital letters and Technicolor.

Silver: Technicolor is cool, but it doesn't make you The Number One Fan of Rayon. That tile belongs, unarguable (as before stated) to me. So, all said and done, you can be The Number Two Fan of Rayon. I'm sure it'll be fine with Rayon either way.

Swift: Yeah, Technicolor is cool. ;>) Okay, Number Two Fan is fine. It just sounds kinda weird. As for being fine with Rayon... I have no idea. Yeah, I was thinking about that. Good point. But he asked first! *Grin*

---
Now, readers, it's your turn! Do you think you deserve a chance to battle Silver and claim the role of Rayon's Number One Fan?

...'Cause I tried, and it didn't work.

(Note- when I pasted in the argument the text went a little funky. I don't have time to fight with it, so here's the post. Maybe later I'll come back and work with it more. Anyhoo, enjoy!)

Another Big Step

Tonight was a special presentation for my church youth group to reflect on things accomplished over the past years. Naturally, I talked about how I'd written several novels (and many other pages of stories besides novels).

After the presentations were over, I was approached by two people who were curious about my novels. My reaction to that was a mixed reaction. I was halfway startled, halfway excited. I'm always nervous about showing my work around.

One of the main things I tell myself when I'm showing stuff around is: "LE, this is good stuff you write. Don't be afraid to show it to people. It's good enough. It'll stand up to the challenge."

I just barely sent an email out with my August NaNoWriMo novel attached. I've decided that when people ask about my novels, this will be the one I send out the most. Why? I don't know. This one seems like one of the best.

15 more days until NaNoWriMo! :D

If you're new, check out the Archives link at the right. (You might need to scroll a bit.) Wondering what the heck this even is? Check out the Best Of.

Now, I made these ones kind of small on purpose so that you can't peek and see who the main bad guy actually is. To see them, just click and zoom in on the page that comes up.

Bwa ha ha ha- I mean, heh.

Graphic Novel Pics 8

For those of you who just came in, this is a graphic novel I've been doing. Normally I write about, well, writing, or characters, or about how crazy I am, but I like to draw too. Thus is why I have a graphic novel I did. Did that make any sense at all?
Anyhoo, to see the other pages, check out the archive link. ---->

Sorry about that violent part up there....

Graphic Novel Pics 6

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. I intended to get up at 6:15 to meet my friend on the IM, but instead hit 'off' instead of 'snooze'. I slept until around seven, when I heard the dog throwing up. Now I have a headache from sleeping funny, my leg hurts for no reason, and I just remembered it's October 1st.

IT'S OCTOBER 1ST! EXACTLY ONE MONTH UNTIL NANOWRIMO!

Pardon the caps. I'm getting over-excited. Heroicits restarts ten days from now, and I get ready for NaNoWriMo, and Imma gonna be busy as heck until early January. Both Heroicits and the Magical Kingdom have year marks between now and January, and I'll have to wrap up the Magical Kingdom chapters.

Annnyhoo:
